This year’s Senior High School Selection process for Junior High School graduates will commence from October 31 to November 18, 2022.
The Central Regional Free Senior High School Coordinator, Mr. Okatakyie Kwame Opoku-Agyemang assures that the 2022 computerized school placement process will be without flaws as measures have been in place to ensure its success
He said various educational stakeholders including School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs) have been trained and sensitized about the guidelines for the process.
Following the training, he noted that the various School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs) in the country have commenced the training of teachers, students and parents.
Speaking to ATL FM NEWS Mr. Opoku- Agyemang indicated that the school placement this year will be successful and called on parents and students to visit their respective schools at the appropriate time to receive training on the process.
Explaining bits of the process he indicated that every student is supposed to select six schools out of nine hundred and eleven and it should be in order of preference with the most liked school on top.
According to him, the schools have been categorized or grouped as ‘ABC and D’ adding that when the school is selected, the preferred program must also be selected.
Mr. Opoku- Agyemang emphasized saying “So, you are a parent, you are a student, you are a teacher. You have taught the child, you know the child’s capability, where the child is very good at. Then you have to select where you will sleep. Do you want to sleep in the house or do you want to sleep in the school? So, these things go with the school choice. So, you cannot just select the school and leave it like that.”
He, therefore, urged parents particularly to get involved in the process in order to guide their wards to make informed choices.
He said this is particularly important as new additions have been made to the selection process.
Some of the updates include the following:
Introduction of a cluster of Schools: These are similar schools that belong to the same category which candidates may comfortably accept as alternative schools to the initial choices.
A Candidate who opts for a cluster and is displaced may have the opportunity of being considered in any of the schools within the cluster.

The Computerized School Selection and Placement System was introduced in 2005 to replace the manual system of selecting students into various senior high, technical, and vocational schools.
The objective of the system is to fully automate the school placement processes in order to reduce human errors and to promote efficiency and fairness in the selection and placement of students in senior high schools.
