On Wednesday, 3rd March,2021, Zimbabwe’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa thanked Vice President Kembo Mohadi for his service.
After three years in the role, Mohadi resigned on Monday 1st Mach, 2021 due to phone recordings that shows Mohadi allegedly soliciting sex from women, including a subordinate in his office, which were shared with local news outlets.
In a letter shared by the information ministry, Mohadi, 70, said he was stepping down “not out of cowardice, but as a sign of great respect for the office of the President.”
From 2015 to 2017, he served in the President’s Office as Minister of State for National Security, and from 2002 to 2015, he served as Minister of Home Affairs.

He was speaking at the 349th meeting of the ZANU-PF Politburo in Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital.

Mohadi, on the other hand, will keep his position as Second Vice President of the ruling ZANU-PF party. Mnangagwa urged party unity and thanked Mohadi for his three years in government promoting the party’s goals.
