Yvonne Nelson and two more conveners have received an invitation to a meeting on Wednesday, May 15 from the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander.
The meeting’s goal is to go over logistics for Yvonne Nelson’s anticipated May 25 Dumsor Must Stop protest.
This was stated in a letter that DCOP Arhin Kwasi Annor signed in response to the previous notification that IGP received on Monday, May 13, from Yvonne Nelson.
You may remember that on May 9, the actress and producer informed the Ghana Police Service that they planned to stage a demonstration in response to irregular power outages.
The actress announced on Thursday, May 9, that she and two other people would be starting a vigil on May 25. The letter was signed jointly by the three of them.
The vigil will begin at Revolution Square at 8:30 am and end at midnight, according to the letter to the Inspector General of Police.
“To demonstrate our frustrations over the unacceptable erratic electricity supply…to give the president ocular evidence of the debilitating effect of the erratic power supply on us,” portions of the notice read.
The actress has long bemoaned the unpredictable power outages that the nation has been suffering over the last few weeks. She had appealed for people to join her in starting a protest against “dumsor.”

Recall that in 2015, during the John Mahama administration, Yvonne Nelson and other celebrities coordinated a large-scale protest against “dumsor” to voice their disapproval over the frequent power outages.
Yvonne Nelson has urged the public to support an upcoming demonstration against “dumsor” and is hoping that the same vigil will take place.
