Famous Ghanaian actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown claims that in order to prevent herself from sinking into a depressive state, she doesn’t give any weight to criticism she receives on social media.
The Onua Showtime anchor revealed in a recent live stream that she chose the tactic to protect her mental health.
“If you are someone who cannot read and see that the things people write can be rubbish or something sensible, and decide to swallow everything, you will always be depressed. You must see the difference.

“On social media, everybody speaks their mind, everybody sees their opinion as facts”, explained McBrown, shedding light on the challenging landscape of social media where opinions often blur the lines between positive feedback and baseless criticism.
She emphasized how tough it might be to handle critics who don’t take celebrities’ emotional states into account.
“Sometimes, you may not be in a good mood or not and yet can’t explain to everybody. You can’t always reply to that person who insulted you. So know yourself. If the person isn’t bringing anything positive to your life, ignore it,” McBrown noted.
McBrown’s remarks are in line with celebrities’ increasing awareness of the mental health issues they encounter in the age of social media.
In the past, celebrities like Kuami Eugene and Funny Face have openly denounced the cyberbullying of other celebrities and challenged trolls to acknowledge the emotional hardships of famous people.
