The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah has urged students of the University Practice Senior High School to embrace discipline and hard work.
He said in the 21st Century, where the world is more interconnected than before, discipline becomes the foundation of character, that will enable them to act responsibly and ethically.
Dr. Nkansah therefore, opined that by students embracing hard work and discipline, they prepare themselves to face the challenges of the 21st Century and provide solutions to them.
“Students, you are the lifeblood of this institution. You are the hope and future of our beloved country. I want to emphasize that our nation needs responsible global citizens like you, who understand the value of discipline and hard work,” he continued.
Delivering a speech at the 47TH Anniversary and 26th Speech and Prize-giving Day of the University Practice Senior High School (UPSHS), Dr. Nkansah advised them saying students ought to remember that the path to global citizenship is paved with these principles.
As such embracing discipline as students will guide them in making wise choices, respecting diversity, and contributing positively to society.
Hard work, on the other hand, he added is a key to unlocking their potential and turning dreams into reality.
He, however, expressed that hard work requires not only physical effort but also intellectual effort, the creativity and the innovation that drives progress.
The Director-General of GES reiterated his commitment and support to help address the many challenges that the school is faced with.
“Let me assure you that I have noted all the consents and requests. I want you to know that I’ll convey all of this to the Minister for Redress and the ones that are within my purview as the Director General of Ghana Education Service. I will address them.”
To him, the University Practice Senior High School has for the last 47 years consistently produced men and women who exemplify the qualities of discipline and hard work.
He therefore expressed confidence in the alumni of the school to continue contributing positively to the ever-changing world.
The 47th Anniversary and the 26th Speech and Prive-giving Day was observed on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 under the theme: Discipline and Hard Work: A Prerequisite for 21st Century Global Citizenship.
The Headmaster of UPSHS, Mr. Charles Agyepong Boamah called on the Ministry of Education, and all relevant stakeholders to help address the several challenges the school is currently faced with including infrastructure, furniture, and administrative vehicles among others.
