Film director Ivan Quashigah has been appointed as the Chairman of the newly formed Board of the Ghana National Film Authority (NFA).
His appointment, authorized by the President under the Development and Classification of Film Act (Act 935), positions him as the head of the board responsible for overseeing, promoting, and supporting Ghana’s vibrant film industry.
The inauguration took place on Monday, August 4, 2025.
Established in 2016 under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, the National Film Authority manages film classification, industry regulations, and advocacy for filmmakers.
Quashigah, renowned as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Farmhouse Productions, stands among Ghana’s foremost creative talents.

Trained in directing and scriptwriting at the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), he also holds an Executive Master’s degree in Governance and Leadership from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
His illustrious career spans decades of pioneering contributions, including the production and direction of the acclaimed youth television series Things We Do for Love and Yolo (You Only Live Once), alongside numerous other film and television projects.
Yolo notably dominated the 2016 Ghana Movie Awards, securing seven out of eight nominations.
Quashigah’s achievements extend to over 18 international and local accolades, with notable recognition at FESPACO for Best Short Feature.
In his role as Chairman, Quashigah is expected to lead the Authority’s board in collaboration with the Executive Secretary, driving efforts to elevate industry standards, promote Ghanaian storytelling, and bolster the nation’s presence on the global film landscape.
