The Faculty of Science and Technology Education at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) was alive with pride and excitement as it welcomed back two of its shining stars, Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah and Lovina Ewusi, from the World University Games 2023 held in China.
The journey to the World University Games has been an arduous one, filled with rigorous training, unwavering determination, and an unquenchable thirst for excellence. Rose Yoboah, with her graceful prowess in the high jump, soared to new heights, clinching a gold medal after jumping a national record of 1.94m while Lovina Awusi, raced her way into the semifinals of the 200m female event, leaving a trail of inspiration for all who witnessed her sprint.
In their return to campus, the management and staff of the faculty, headed by the faculty Dean, Prof. Dauglas Darko Agyei, held a very winsome welcome reception to welcome and congratulate the athletes for their exceptional performance at the World University games.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Agyei conveyed the joy the faculty and the entire university feel for the students’ wonderful achievement on a global scale.
“This is just the beginning; you have done so well, and from what I heard about your ages, we know the sky is your limit. We want to congratulate you and encourage you that there are more opportunities ahead of you, don’t just become reluctant and give up here.” Prof. Adjei said.
The Dean also extended his gratitude to the players’ coaches for managing them and assisting them in bringing honor to the University and the entire nation.
The triumphant athletes represented not only their university but their nation on the international stage, bringing back accolades that would forever be etched in the annals of the University of Cape Coast’s sporting history.
