A gynecologist at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Dr. Vincent Nachinab has cautioned women against excessive use of emergency contraceptive pills as the only means of preventing pregnancies.
According to him the rate at which the emergency pill is being abused is alarming and could pose danger to the health of such women.
He emphasized that the abuse of such pills confuses the body and sets the whole body system into disarray adding that “It will take the body sometime to reset the clock back to what it used to be and that is one of the biggest dangers.”

Speaking on the ATLANTIC WAVE on Tuesday Dr. Vincent Nachinab encouraged individuals to embrace the use of proper contraceptive methods.
“Ideally even though theoretically it is not wrong but per my recommendation, it should not exceed two times in a year especially when the person is your partner and you have sex frequently; you can go for a long acting reversible method of contraception.
He also called on the various stakeholders to intensify education on proper contraceptive methods in the country.
