The failing situation of Ghana’s film industry has been addressed by actor Harold Amenyah, who blames it on the lack of support from the country’s viewers.
He claimed in an interview that the lack of encouragement and motivation among film producers to release more films is the reason the industry is not thriving.
Amenyah made the point that while moviegoers’ attendance at theaters is essential to the industry’s expansion, the majority of Ghanaians rarely participate.

Amenyah recognized Nigeria’s stability and strength in the film business when he compared it to Ghana’s.
He clarified that this is the result of both public investment in the Nigerian film industry and attendance at film premieres.
The actor proposed that Ghana may emulate Nigeria’s achievements in the film industry by implementing comparable tactics.
“Ghanaians do not support us. People will ask us why they don’t see us on the screens, it’s because they are not watching and they don’t even look out for it.
“Nigerians are ahead of us because they get the support. We are learning from them, we will get there.”
“They learn from us in terms of production and filming, but we have to learn from them in terms of support and promotion because they do better than us,” he stated candidly.
Amenyah was upbeat about the Ghanaian film industry’s future despite its difficulties, provided that indigenous producers get the assistance they need.
He exhorted Ghanaians to consume local material and attend premieres as ways to help the film industry.
