New Central Regional Police Commander Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Alexander Kwame Amenyo has pledged his outfit’s unwavering commitment to fighting crimes in the region.
According to him, his outfit will not compromise on criminals and will ensure that lives and properties are protected at all times.
At a media briefing to outline his vision for the region as the Regional Commander, he said the regional police command will perform all of its duties to the expectation of the people it is policing in the region and pledged that his outfit will be accessible and visible to the local people.
“It is gratifying to note that myself and the officers in our deliberations resolved to be very firm in decision- making and enhance our control and command. We will ensure that our personnel are professional and will be apt in performance without infringing on the rights of innocent persons,” he revealed.

DCOP Amenyo outlined a number of pragmatic measures that will be implemented in order to maintain law and order in the region.
- Decision to intensify night and day patrols in the region as well as to expand dotted snap check points.
- Decision to deal with reliable informants because the police cannot do it alone.
- The regional police service has decided to assist communities to form community watchdog committees to fight crimes.
- To use electronic media and outreach programs to educate citizens about crimes and how to prevent crimes from occurring in the region as well as how to inform police for the necessary actions to take place.
- A resolve has been made asking officers who attend churches to seek for platform in their various churches so congregation will be lectured on issues of crimes and how it can be avoided.
- In- servicing training will be conducted regularly for all officers so they can update their skills on new trends in the service.
- A decision has been made on the issue information sharing. Information will be shared with all stakeholders and everyone out there and especially the media.
- Decision to take domestic crimes seriously and punish perpetrators.
- Measures have been put in place to check road incidents in the region.
- Personnel welfare will also be catered for.
Working together
The Regional Commander called on the indigens to come on board the fight against crime and ensure that all the measures he had outlined comes to fruition.
“The criminals who commit crimes are just with us in our houses and we know them, therefore, we must let the police know” he emphasized.
He also urged the media to collaborate with the police and to double-check every information before publishing it.
“we will plead with you to cross-check because we have somebody directly working you, that is the Director of public affairs before you bring information to the public,” he appealed
