Military troops working under the government’s anti-galamsey operation demolished 16 of Xtra Gold Mining Limited’s excavators and one bulldozer on its concessions in Atewa West District, according to the business.
Despite becoming a lawfully licensed large scale leaseholder with five concessions and having secured the required government licenses to begin operations on their concessions, the military personnel set their machines on fire, according to the mining firm.
According to the company’s press release, the military’s activities were “a blatant breach of the rule of law,” since they did not obey the government’s order to only smash illicit miners’ machinery.
They demanded that the anti-galamsey military officers be brought to justice “for the sake of Ghana and its people.”
Meanwhile, Kate Gyamfua, the Company’s General Manager and the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Women’s Organiser, has hinted that she would pursue relief in court “if necessary.”
She stated that the Company had taken all appropriate precautions to avoid such an occurrence. As a result, the loss of the equipment caught her and the majority of the management off guard.
“Following the announcement of ‘Operation Halt,’ the corporation notified the Minister of Land and Natural Resources of their concessions.
It sent its chart to the Minister, requesting that he give it to the commander in charge of the campaign and making all of its legal documentation accessible to the military team.

“Prior to that, the corporation had halted operations for several days and was in contact with the appropriate offices in charge of the service.
All of the company’s machinery had been packed, including a bulldozer for reclamation (as necessary by the minerals and mining laws).
“Unfortunately, the company’s answer to the Minister’s letter is the reclamation of the machines, including the bulldozers,” she said.
Since 2006, Xtra Gold has been operating in Ghana.
