Conrad Kakraba, Executive Director of Truth TV, says the station’s management has started the procedure of obtaining a license from the National Communications Authority (NCA).
Truth TV is one of 49 channels targeted for closure by the NCA for working without proper licenses.
The NCA said in a statement that the operation is being conducted in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service and National Security Intelligence Operatives.
Mr. Kakraba clarified on Eyewitness News that the station has obtained a provisional license to function and is preparing to complete the process of obtaining authorisation from the NCA.
“We officially began operations in August 2020. Prior to establishing the station, I personally went to the NCA and obtained an authorisation form, which will allow us to obtain our own channel license authorisation. However, for the time being, we are running under a bouquet certificate. They are licensed to Service Providers, who in turn grant them to channels, allowing them to operate before their own authorization is issued.”
“We have not yet sent the authorization documents we picked up. Our bouquet authorization, which is renewable, will expire in July of this year. It is often acknowledged. As a result, we are working under that before the procedure for obtaining ours is completed.”
“We have written to the NCA to clarify our situation and to request attention. We are optimistic that after the procedures are finished, we can resurface,” Mr. Kakraba said.
He stated that the television station’s board has already suspended operations awaiting settlement of the unresolved problems.
“For the time being, our channel has been disabled. We did so prior to receiving correspondence from the West Africa Platform Services.
He mentioned that the television channel would not air any programming that is deemed objectionable.

“In reality, we do not advertise alcoholic drinks at all. This is something that all of our fans are conscious of. We were forced to deliver a swift rebuttal after discovering the name was trending on social media,” he said.
Truth TV is a campus television station affiliated with the Church of Christ’s heritage College Media Centre. Ezra Communications Limited operates it.
Virgin TV, Thunder TV, Maranatha TV, Kwaku Bonsam TV, and Obuor TV are among the additional networks that would be impacted by the NCA’s service.
Meanwhile, the NCA has also shut down Thunder TV and Ice1 TV for reportedly airing material that was duplicated for financial gain.
