Jamaican dancehall icon Adidja Palmer, known as Vybz Kartel or Worl Boss, is reportedly organizing a significant concert in Accra this December, potentially marking his first major performance on the African continent.
Ghanaian sports broadcaster Gary Al-Smith revealed that Kartel has inquired about the availability of the Accra Sports Stadium, a venue that holds 40,000 and has previously hosted local stars like Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. If confirmed, this event could become one of the largest concerts in Ghana this year.

This announcement follows several collaborations between Vybz Kartel and Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale. Last December, Shatta Wale was set to perform at Kartel’s highly anticipated homecoming concert after the Jamaican star’s release from prison.

Kartel, who served 13 years, was freed when Jamaica’s Court of Appeal overturned his murder conviction. His first post-prison concert at Jamaica’s National Stadium, which accommodates 35,000, was hailed as a “worldwide dancehall revival.” During that electrifying event, Shatta Wale captivated fans with his hits, including his collaboration with Beyoncé on “Already.” At the end of his performance, Kartel honored Shatta Wale by crowning him the King of African Dancehall.
Previous Kartel events have featured internationally acclaimed artists like Popcaan and Skillibeng, both of whom have worked with American stars such as Nicki Minaj and DJ Khaled. Industry insiders speculate that a similarly impressive lineup could be arranged for the Ghana concert, further solidifying Accra’s status as a global music hub.
If everything goes according to plan, Vybz Kartel’s December concert in Ghana is poised to be a highlight of the country’s musical calendar.
