The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa says the Commission is determined to open up their processes to promote transparency in their work.
Jean Mensa said although the mandate on the Commission is a very delicate one, they believe it is necessary to assure the citizenry that there is nothing mischievous about their work.
In this regard, the Commission has introduced the Let the Citizens know press briefing which will be aired every Wednesday and Friday to update the citizens on developments on the compilation exercise.
Addressing the media at the first edition of the EC’s press briefing, the chairperson said they believe the initiative will help build trust and confidence in the EC.
“We believe this platform will allow timely information regularly to the citizenry. We are confident that by doing so we will demystify the operations of the Commission and remove the cloth of secrecy that has hitherto shrouded our work.
The briefing will address issues on the entire registration across the country such as the adherence to COVID 19 protocols, issues on doubling registering, and the movement plan.
