Vodafone Ghana Foundation as part of its commitment to contribute to the sustainable development of the country on Tuesday feted children at the pediatric ward of the Central Regional Teaching hospital to commemorate world children’s day.
The day initiated by the foundation sought to celebrate the Vodafone staff whose birthday month is November
Gospel musician, Helena Rhabbles and radio personality, Dr. Pounds of Hits FM who celebrated their birthday in November also joined the staff of Vodafone and the hospital to put smiles on the faces of the kids who have been in the hospital for a period of time.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the event, country lead, Vodafone Ghana Foundation, Rev. Amaris Nana Perbi said the activity falls under their birthday stars initiative which was launched in 2020.
This was with the aim of getting staff of the foundation as well as Vodafone in their activities and dedicate their time to be with the vulnerable in society.
This was also to expose the kids to digitization projects and others that will redefine and tune their minds into the digital education system.
Rev. Amaris Nana Perbi said, “some of the kids have been here for 4 to 6 months and over and so we thought that if we are able to bring close to them the robotic STEM teaching and fun games, it will at least reintegrate them back into the society.”
According to him, there has been an increase in volunteers to support the foundation to mark the various recognized UN Days to put smiles on the less privileged.
On her part, Helena Rhabbles commended the foundation for such an initiative and urged parents to support their children to grow and become better citizens.
Dr. Pounds also called on Ghanaians to help in making the hospital a better place where kids go to seek medical attention.
The Foundation donated to the pediatric ward pulse oxymeters, digital thermometers, infrared thermometer, a suction machine, bed sheets and pillow covers.
