Ghanaian broadcaster, Vim Lady, formerly known as Afia Pokua, has opened up to Graphic Showbiz monitored by ATL FM News about the devastating impact of the Manhyia controversy on her life.
A namesake’s inflammatory remarks about Otumfuo Osei Tutu II sparked widespread outrage, with many mistakenly believing Vim Lady was responsible.
According Afia Pokua of Despite Media, the aftermath was brutal, with insults and curses flooding social media.

“Since the Manhyia case, it’s been traumatic,” Vim Lady shared. “People assumed it was me, and the insults were overwhelming. My mother was nearly attacked by a group of women who thought I was the one who made the remarks. She called me, panicking.” she explained.
Vim Lady felt betrayed after years of building her brand. “Whenever I post on Facebook, people still insult me, referencing Manhyia,” she added.
To protect herself and her family, Vim Lady has decided to officially change her name to avoid further confusion.

“This name change will ensure clearer identification and distance me from similar situations,” she stated.
Vim Lady’s rebranding aims to restore her reputation and shield her loved ones from unwarranted backlash.
“I won’t let someone else’s actions define me,” she declared. “I’m taking control of my name and my legacy.”
The name change aims to distinguish her from the other Afia Pokua, who sparked outrage on Onua TV’s Biribi Gyegye Wo show.
Vim Lady will now be her official professional moniker.
