The entire Cape Coast metropolis was in a colorful state on Christmas Day, 25th December as throngs of people participated in the 3rd edition of the Mayor 1 Masquerade Carnival held in Cape Coast as it claimed it’s rightful number one position.
The event which was held at the forecourt of the Melcom Supermarket in Cape Coast saw about 2,000 participants clad in their various masquerade or fancy dress regalia participating in the event.
The Mayor 1 Cape Coast Masquerade Carnival started with a float from Siwdu, a suburb of Cape Coast, and the over two thousand participants from about 15 masquerade groups displayed enough resilience as they danced along with various known and unknown rhythms from their various accompanying bandsmen also clad in their respective outfits adding to the order and beauty.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ernest Arthur who is the sole sponsor of the event, addressed the burgeoning and excited crowd and pledged his unflinching support always for the program organized by the Creative Arts and Media Associaton (CAMA).

However, the event saw pulsating music performances from Mr. Fantastik, the Dancehall Artiste of the Year (2021)at the just ended Central Music Awards and Highlife ace, Kobby Symple.
The main competition of the day was with a lot of elements of surprise as some kids stood high on poles and showed off their dancing skills. The joy didn’t seem to have been enough from the outfit of these young ones, as the various 8 competing groups put up splendid dance moves and creative antics.
The denouement of the event saw Ohye Wakoma mu emerging first for the second consecutive time.
Some of the competing teams were, Tumus, Justice, Holy Cities, Ohye Wakoma mu, Panya, were among a host of others who participated in the final competition to climax the event.
The event attracted thousands of visitors across the country including foreigners.
