President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo dismissed Daniel Noble Awuley’s appointment as the Municipal Chief Executive of the Hohoe Municipal Assembly.
On Monday, March 25, 2024, a letter was sent notifying Mr. Awuley of his dismissal. The letter was supported by O.B. Amoah, a Minister of State in the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development. The grounds for the dismissal were based on constitutional and legislative requirements.
According to the letter, the action is based on Article 243(3)(b) of the Constitution and Section 20(3)(b) of the Local Governance Act 2016 (Act 936).

The letter went on to say, “As a result, you must delegate your responsibilities to the Hon. Regional Minister, who will oversee the Municipal Assembly until a new Municipal Chief Executive is confirmed.”
“By a copy of this letter, the Hon. Regional Minister is requested to take oversight responsibility of the Municipal Assembly pending the confirmation of a new Municipal Chief Executive.”
Parallel to this, President Akufo-Addo has named Francis Fiakpui to fill the vacant seat.
