Today, April 17, all unregistered SIM cards would be deleted from the telecommunication operators database.
This action follows a directive from the National Communications Authority (NCA).
The NCA directed the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications to make sure that, all SIM cards, which have not been re-registered with Ghana cards, in compliance with the March 31, 2023 deadline be removed.
As a result, all SIM cards registered after the individual limit of 10 should also be deactivated and deleted from all databases.
The Telecom Operators must also report to the NCA how many SIM cards have been disconnected.
Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, the Chamber’s chief executive, tells Citi News that his organisation will cooperate with NCA on this project.
“The regulator has given timelines, from the perspective of the regulator, these things have been happening previously. We will cooperate with the regulator,” Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications said.
