The University of Cape Coast has extended financial assistance to academically outstanding yet financially disadvantaged students through its Students’ Financial Support Office (StuFSO).
The beneficiaries were recognized during an official awards ceremony held on Friday, May 16, 2025.
The scholarship program, designed to support students in financing their education, saw a significant increase in applications this year.
The office received 1,646 applications, indicating a 5.3% increment compared to the 1,564 applications received in 2023.
This overwhelming response underscores the profound need for such initiatives and the University’s commitment to ensuring that financial limitations do not hinder academic aspirations.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, the Dean of Students, Professor Daniel Apaak, called on the beneficiary students to be ambassadors for the scholarship scheme so other students can also apply.
He also appealed to the students to advocate and network for more support and funding for their education.
“So, if you are here and you have some link with anybody that can support this scheme, please. Now you are a beneficiary, you can also be a good ambassador,” Professor Apaak urged.
Congratulating the awardees, Senior Assistant Registrar at the Department of Public Affairs, Dr. Kwabena Antwi-Konadu, encouraged the awardees to work hard so as not to disappoint themselves and to make judicious use of the resources provided to them.
“Don’t disappoint anyone, including yourself. Remember that so many people applied. So, having received this, make sure the resources are used judiciously. And finally, whilst congratulating you, know that it is a privilege, not a right,” Dr. Antwi-Konadu advised.

The scholarships were distributed equitably across the University’s Colleges, Faculties/Schools, and Departments, based on the students’ financial circumstances and the attainment of a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 or better.
The award scheme is designed to support students of the University of Cape Coast in financing their education. The University encourages all eligible students to apply for future scholarship opportunities.
