The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Development Programme for Innovative Agro-Production Technology using Big Data (DIB), Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea.
The agreement seeks to promote mutual cooperation and common interests in areas of shared benefits between DIB and UCC.
The Vice-Chancellor of UCC, Prof Johnson Nyarko Boampong, held a dinner banquet in honour of Dr. Byung-Wook Yun, the Director of International Research and Development, Kyungpook National University, and his entourage to sign the MOU.
Under the MoU, both institutions would exchange experts for participation in seminars and conferences, as well as joint research and educational cooperation. They would also share experience and knowledge, along with exchange of activities conducted under the agreement.
Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong signed for UCC, with Dr. Byung-Wook Yun, signing for his University, and was witnessed by the Registrar of UCC, Mr. Jeff Onyame and other members of UCC management.
Speaking after the signing of the MOU, Prof. Boampong expressed his gratitude to DIB for the valuable partnership that enhances academic collaboration between the two universities.
He said as the leading universities in their respective countries, there was the need for them to use their combined knowledge to develop to accelerate academic growth in their countries.
Dr. Byung-Wook Yun, on his part, lauded the hospitality of UCC and the audience granted him and his accompanying delegation.
He added that Kyungpook National University collaboration with UCC was a step in the right direction, judging by the position of UCC in the 2023 Times Higher Education Rankings.
