To mark her 50th birthday, a librarian at the School for Development Studies of the University of Cape Coast, Madam Esther Baaba Guichard has made a donation worth over 7,000 to the Trinity Hope Centre at Ayensudo in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem municipality.
The items presented to the Trinity Hope Centre included bags of rice, gallons of oil, boxes of assorted drinks, sanitary materials, bags of sachet water, sugar, exercise books, and clothes, among other items.
Presenting the items to the orphanage, she said the gesture was to encourage the orphanages to keep doing more for society while helping the children to focus on a brighter future ahead of them.
She commended the staff of the Centre for their hard work and sacrifices and also revealed that she held dearly the welfare of the less privileged in society and will continue to assist them.
According to her, she made the donation because God has been good to her and she needed to show appreciation.
“I’ve been through a lot and I just thought like thanking God through giving to the children, the orphans. So, I tried to solicit funds from friends, and God being so good, it’s been successful. They brought their list and we were able to fulfill all. Some friends supported and I am really grateful to all of them” she said.
The donation also came with other eatables including lunch, popcorn, and ice cream.
The Administrator of the Centre, Deborah Essuman, who received the donations thanked Mad. Guichard for the donation and appealed for more support for the orphanage.
She emphasized that there is a need for individuals and stakeholders to reach out to them with foodstuff like tomatoes, pepper, and onions among others which she says has become very expensive to purchase.
At the orphanage, the children prayed for Madam Esther Guichard, wished her long life, and expressed their gratitude for the gesture after a buffet.
