The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has held a matriculation ceremony to formally integrate freshmen and women admitted into various programmes for the 2024/2025 academic year, into the University community.
The ceremony, held virtually from the University’s Board Chamber on Saturday, 15th March, 2025 and streamed to halls of residence, hostels, satellite campuses and study centres, officially inducted the freshmen and women as junior members of the University.

In his address, Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong, encouraged the students to prioritize their academic exploits, since it is the main purpose for their admission into the University.
He explained that as students, their primary responsibility is to learn, engage, and excel, insisting that UCC prides itself on academic rigour and intellectual curiosity.
“We have assembled a distinguished faculty of professors, senior lecturers, and lecturers who are dedicated to your success, attend lectures regularly, participate actively, complete assignments on time, and prepare diligently for assessments. These are the keys to excelling academically and avoiding the pitfalls of examination malpractice,” he told the students.
Prof. Boampong also asked the students to uphold the core values of UCC: Academic Excellence, Empowerment, Equality, Ethical Bhaviour, and Environmental Consciousness.
He emphasized that these principles will shape their experience and guide them toward success.
Additionally, he called on the newly admitted students to adhere to the University’s rules and regulations in order to enjoy a smooth journey on campus.
“At UCC, rules and regulations exist not to limit you, but to ensure order, harmony, and the smooth operation of the university. I urge you all to read, understand, and adhere to these rules as they regard your academic journey and personal conduct within this institution. Remember, our aim is to see every one of you graduate successfully.”
