The Non-Formal education system, which includes distance learning, has been gaining popularity in recent years worldwide.
Most Reverend Titus Awotwi Pratt, a renowned educationist and former Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana emphasized the importance of distance learning in today’s world.
He stated that the adoption of this mode of learning has increased access to education, and the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has worked hard to achieve parity of standard with conventional classroom learning.
To him, this has naturally established parity of esteem among graduates regardless of the mode of learning.
Reverend Awotwi Pratt, therefore, recommended UCC’s distance education programs to anyone contemplating enrolling in a distance program in Ghana.
“I, therefore, wish to take this opportunity to recommend our distance education programmes to anyone who is contemplating enrolling in a distance program in Ghana.”
Most Reverend Awotwi Pratt who represented the Chairman of the University of Cape Coast’s Governing Council, Prof Obeng Mireku was speaking at both the 6th and 7th Sessions of the University’s 55th Congregation held for graduands of the College of Distance Education (CoDE).
In all, 5412 students of CoDE-UCC graduated with bachelor’s degrees and diplomas in various disciplines.
Meanwhile, The University of Cape Coast has signed a Memoranda of Understanding with several universities in Africa with the aim of delivering quality distance education beyond the shores of Ghana to other African nationals.
With respect to this, the College of Distance Education (CoDE)-UCC is in the process of establishing a world-class e-learning studio to engage in technology-driven education for both local and international students.
The Vice-Chancellor Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong announced this during the 6th and 7th Sessions of the 55th Congregation ceremony, where a total of 5412 students of CoDE-UCC graduated with bachelor’s degrees and diplomas in various disciplines.
