The Marketing Manager for Weave Ghana Limited, Mrs. Angela Danso has advised students to craft their social skills and take aptitude skills that will prepare them for the corporate world.
She underscored the need for students to think critically as it is an important value that will enable them to understand and navigate experiences in the corporate world.
To that end, she emphasized the need for them to interact with the fresh students who had gained admission to the University of Cape Coast for the 2023/2024 academic year.
“We came to share some of the experiences with the students to help address them with what lies ahead of them in the future; advising them on how to craft their career path, how to network, pick role models, study hard, and so adopt to social skills and all that so that they can be readily prepared for the corporate world,” she continued.
Mrs. Danso spoke to ATL FM NEWS at the sidelines of a conference to welcome and orient the fresh students organized by the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) of the University of Cape Coast in partnership with Weave Ghana Limited dubbed “WE CONFERENCE”.
The conference hosted experts experienced in various areas of leadership and corporate society sharing their experiences with the students to them with valuable insights and practical knowledge to maintain a healthy balance between their academic, social, and financial lives.
Mrs. Danso also encouraged the students to take advantage of graduate programmes that companies usually offer.
She expressed that one of the significant post-school opportunities for students is the availability of graduate programs offered by companies adding that many of these companies utilize aptitude tests during the shortlisting process.
She further mentioned that in today’s business world, the ability to think quickly and critically is essential.
Continuous exposure to aptitude tests helps students develop problem-solving skills, transforming them into proactive problem-solvers and critical thinkers, crucial qualities for future success in the professional world.
“Once you keep doing these aptitude tests, it helps you think critically to solve problems. You become a problem solver and not someone who can only talk about it and be critical thinkers for the future,” she added.
On his part, the National President of NUGS, Daniel Oppong Kyeremeh admonished students to create and build strategic connections.
He however emphasized the importance of providing students with opportunities to learn from experienced individuals, preparing them for the critical stage the country is facing.
Therefore, he revealed plans for an upcoming entrepreneurship program to equip students with practical skills to generate income even before completing their studies.
Daniel Kyeremeh said the focus is on ensuring students are well-equipped to learn new and evolving skills like Data Analytics and Artificial intelligence to navigate the rapidly advancing world and compete effectively with counterparts in other successful regions.
