The Institutional Affiliation Office (IAO) of the University of Cape Coast has presented essential healthcare equipment to the Directorate of University Health Services.
The equipment presented included ceiling lamps and theatre beds.
Presenting the items, Head of the Institutional Affiliation Office, Dr. Justice Agyenim – Boateng, stated that the presentation was in fulfilment of a promise the Office made to support the University Hospital acquire some essential equipment for its operations.
Dr. Agyenim-Boateng expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong for his unwavering commitment from approving to completing the procurement of the items.
He appealed to other units in the University to contribute to the development of the University Hospital emphasizing its benefits to UCC staff during health emergencies.
“This is where all of us can come to at any point in time. If we don’t set it up to support us, and we need to go far away, we may not even reach there because of the traffic situation and the bad road network,” he said.

Receiving the items, the Director of the Directorate of University Health Services, Dr. James Kojo Prah expressed thanks to the Institutional Affiliation Office for fulfilling their promise to procure the items.
He said the items will enable the hospital to conduct more than one surgical operation at a given time.
“There are times that just within a short time, we have more than one and because it’s only one theatre, the other patients will have to wait, but with this, going to the operation, now another surgeon could be in this theatre. Then, we could give that very prompt care that other patients will need. So, we know we are going to save more lives with this.”
The items – when installed – will help provide improved surgical services to the clients of the Hospital, including staff of the University, their dependants and residents of surrounding communities.
