The University of Cape Coast has held a Send-Off and Long Service Awards Ceremony for 73 members of staff who retired from active service this year.
The ceremony which is held annually to celebrate and appreciate the dedicated retiring staff of the University included 22 senior members, 20 senior staff and 31 junior staff who served the University for periods ranging from 18 to 42 years in their various capacities.
Addressing the gathering on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor at the ceremony on Thursday, the Provost of the College of Humanities and Legal Studies, Professor Francis Eric Amoquandoh, acknowledged the retirees for their relentless support, commitment and dedication to the institution whilst pursuing excellence through the creation of standards in teaching, intellectual inquiry and professional practice.
He, therefore, urged them to assist the present staff by mentoring them to keep up with the meritorious services for the betterment of the University.
Professor Amoquandoh further encouraged them to join clubs to fraternize whilst leveraging on the pensioners ‘association to stay healthy and active.
On behalf of the retirees, Prof. Livingstone K. Sam-Amoah expressed their profound gratitude to the University management for the honour and implored the retirees to prioritize their health and welfare even as they withdraw from active service.
