The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has donated some computer hardware to the Central Regional Police Headquarters to help facilitate their office work in the region.
The items included laptops, desktops monitors and a colour printer.
At a brief ceremony to present the items, the Vice-Chancellor at the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah said the gesture was also to honour a promise made by the university to the Regional police service and to also complement the police service’s effort in protecting residents within the region.

“We are doing this in the name of a symbiotic experience, sharing with you something we have and which we think you need. And when you requested for, we know that indeed you needed them that is why you have requested for them”, he said.
In his remarks, the Central Regional Police Commander, COP Paul Manly Awini, speaking on behalf of the police service, expressed gratitude to the university for the kind gesture and assured that the items will be put to good use.
“Most times our work is hampered by the fact that the logistics are not there in the numbers that we actually need. It will go a long way to support the work of the regional criminal investigative department and other units which do a lot of paperwork.”
Present were the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dora Edu-Buandoh, the Registrar; Mr John Kofi Nyan, Director of the Directorate of Public Affairs, Major (Rtd) Kofi Baah Bentum and other senior staff, all from the University of Cape Coast.
