On Thursday, June 16, 2022, the Toll Workers’ Union plans to march to present a petition to the President.
According to the Union, the action has become essential since the Government has neglected to address its concerns.
The toll workers were laid off when the government issued a directive in November 2021 to stop collecting tolls on the country’s roadways and bridges.
As a result, the government committed to compensate affected employees until they were relocated.
However, the workers claim they are due five months’ pay and have yet to be trained or moved to new positions.

Edward Duncan, Secretary of the Toll Workers’ Union, told Citi News that union members are fighting to survive since the government has neglected to address their issues.
They are hoping that when the President is petitioned, things will change.
“We believe that the buck stops with the president, so if the president gets in the know of what is happening… the promise that he made to us which is that they are going to pay everyone until reassignment, will come to fruition,” Mr. Duncan said.
He further claims that the Union’s leadership is in contact with the Regional Police to ensure protection for its members on Thursday.
