A tipper truck accident that occurred in front of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) Hall in Cape Coast has sparked renewed calls for heightened caution on the roads, especially during the rainy season.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 around 12:16 p.m.
According to the Deputy PRO of the Ghana National Fire Service, ADO1 Fiifi Daadze, the tipper truck with registration number GN5523-22, loaded with tiles from Accra to Takoradi suffered a burst tire on the near side-specifically the front driver’s side causing the driver to lose control and the vehicle fell into a nearby ditch.

Scenes from the accident
ADO1 Daadzie explained that two occupants in the vehicle- the driver and a mate, had already been rescued by passers-by before fire service arrived.
“There were no visible injuries, but accidents of this nature can cause serious internal injuries, so we advised that they go to the hospital to seek medical care,” he said in an interview with ATL FM NEWS.

The Deputy PRO emphasized that this latest crash highlights the importance of routine vehicles checks and tyre maintenance emphasizing that worn-out tires could be a major contributing factor to such accidents.
He underscored the need for drivers to take precaution at all times.
“You see, this one, was caused by a burst tyre. I’m not saying that is the cause but for all you know, the tires had been worn-out and needed to be changed, but were not. We urge drivers to maintain their vehicles properly so that passengers can be transported safely to their destinations.
