TikTok is launching new features to help songwriters showcase their work within the app. Currently in beta, these features include a “Songwriter” label and a dedicated tab on user profiles for displaying musical creations, aimed at improving marketing opportunities for songwriters.
Initially, access to the new label and music highlight section is limited to select publishing partners and songwriters, who can join a waitlist to participate.
To inform these developments, TikTok surveyed over 870 songwriters and conducted interviews to understand their social media needs for profile building and monetization. An independent survey revealed that more than half of songwriters use social media, with many choosing TikTok for promotion. These insights prompted TikTok to introduce the new features.
TikTok’s Global Head of Music Publishing Licensing and Partnership stated, “We are passionately committed to supporting songwriters at TikTok, which is why we built these tools to celebrate and elevate songwriters and their work on our platform.”

The platform allows songwriters to highlight their music alongside personal content, helping them share their stories and grow their audience, similar to the success seen by hundreds of thousands of artist creators.
While Spotify has offered features for songwriters for years, and Tidal recently launched tools for tracking royalties and managing credits, TikTok remains a vital platform for music discovery and promotion. Earlier this year, TikTok also introduced a TikTok for Artists tool to enable artists to track their campaign performance.
