The Central Regional Minister Mr. Kwamena Duncan has inaugurated a three-member committee to resolve the protracted chieftaincy dispute in Senya Breku between the Anona and Twidan Stool/Royal Families.
The committee comprises Professor George Panyin Hagan former chairperson of the National Commission on Culture as chairman, Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X paramount chief of Enyan Abaasa who is representing the regional Co-ordinating council and House of Chief and Paul Atsu Agbezudor the Coordinating Director of the Awutu- Senya West District Assembly.
The Regional Minister said the decision to constitute the committee was done with earnest support from the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, George Andah to resolve the matter which has deprived the people of Senya Breku the peace and development they desire.
He said on assumption of office Senya Breku has been on his security agenda hence he took the necessary steps to engage all sides for talks to see themselves as one people with one heritage and a common however this did not result in the peace they require.

“There are still divisions which would require that we get eminent persons to sit on the issue to bring their knowledge to bear and help all of us to have a way forward in order to give the peace that the people of Senya Breku so desperately desire” he said.
According to him if a truce is reached then they would have created the necessary platform for future generations.
The Member of Parliament George Andah at the inauguration was elated that both feuding parties had agreed for the committee to sit on the matter and was hopeful a fruitful end will be achieved.
He advised that “We should loosen the hard entrenched positions of each party and come to a consensus in the interest of Senya. We all know that the youth in Senya are unhappy about the situation”
He added, “I pray by the Grace of God we will corporate with these eminent persons so that they can come out with a recommendation for the honourable Regional Minister that will draw the road map to appease all stakeholders and every other person that is an indigene of Senya so that we can put an end to this issue once and for all.”
On his part, Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X speaking on behalf of the committee called for cooperation from all parties involved.
The committee which is expected to work within two months will in consultation with Senya Traditional Council, the Anona and Twidan Stool/Royal families, the Youth Representatives, make an informed recommendation to resolve the issue of which Stool/Royal family and or Stool/Royal families are recognized in Senya Beraku.
It is expected that the work of the committee will be accepted by all factions and pave the way for the gazetting of the Paramount Chief and smooth working relationship with the Senya Beraku Traditional Council.
The committee after the two months period must provide a full report and recommendations to the Central Regional Minister and the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs that will ensure that all parties agree on the proposed roadmap to settle the protracted chieftaincy issues.
