Salah’s Crazy Good Season: The Numbers
Mo Salah is having a killer season for Liverpool, no doubt. He just matched a Premier League record with those two goals against Southampton. He’s got 44 goals and assists combined, which ties the most ever in a 38-game season. Plus, he’s moving up the list of all-time Premier League scorers. Even for him, this season is special as Liverpool goes for another title. The Numbers Behind Salah’s Sensational Season.

Salah’s Goal-Getting Skills
Salah’s been on fire, with 27 goals and 17 assists. Some would say it’s the best season ever, and it’s happening as his Liverpool contract ends. He’s scored two goals in five games this season, even against tough teams like Tottenham and Newcastle. You can always count on him; he’s scored in 22 out of 29 games.
He didn’t score or assist in a few games, like when Liverpool lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest in September (their only league loss so far), and in a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace in October, plus two games in January against Forest and Brentford. But if you add up everything, he has 32 goals and 22 assists, which makes 54 total.
Moving Up the Goalscorer List
Those two goals recently put Salah at 184 Premier League goals. Almost all of them were for Liverpool. Now he’s tied with Sergio Aguero for fifth place on the all-time list. Andy Cole is just ahead with 187 goals, so Salah could end the season as the fourth-best scorer ever in the Premier League.
Going for a Record
Thierry Henry is the only player to ever get 20 goals and 20 assists in one Premier League season. He did it in 2002-03 with 24 goals and 20 assists for Arsenal. Salah might do the same thing.
In 2022-23, Erling Haaland tied Henry with 44 goals and assists combined. He scored 36 goals and assisted eight in his first season for Manchester City. Now Salah has matched that, and he still has nine games left to beat it.
Before, Luis Suarez scored 31 goals and assisted 12 in 2013-14. Salah’s best season before this was in 2017-18 when he scored 32 goals and assisted 10. But right now, he might have his greatest season ever.
Other Records He Could Break
Back when the Premier League had 22 teams and 42 games, Andy Cole (1993-94) and Alan Shearer (1994-95) each had 47 goals and assists. They scored 34 goals and assisted 13 times. Salah could beat that record in a 38-game season. He already has 44 in just 29 games.
He could also beat the record for most assists in a season, which is 20. Henry (2002-03) and Kevin De Bruyne (2019-20) both have that record. If Salah keeps assisting like he has been, he could take that record too.
Only three players have been the best at scoring and assisting in the same season: Andy Cole (1993-94), Harry Kane (2020-21), and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (1998-99, tied). Salah almost did it before; he tied for the Golden Boot with Son Heung-min in 2021-22 and had the most assists. If he keeps playing well, he could be the best in both this season. The Numbers Behind Salah’s Sensational Season.
Liverpool wants to win another title, and Salah is playing great, so who knows what other records might fall before the season ends?
