Tems, a musician from Nigeria, has received her first Oscar nomination.
She created history by becoming the first musician from Nigeria to receive an Academy Award nomination.
Tems is recognized for co-writing the song Lift Me Up for the motion picture Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The song, which was released in October 2022, received a nomination for Best Original Song.

She was nominated alongside Rihanna, Ludwig Göransson, and Ryan Coogler, all of whom contributed to writing the song Lift Me Up.

This is Tems’ most recent honor after being nominated for the Grammy and Golden Globes recently.
