The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications has announced the impending blocking of agent accounts that remain unlinked to either their Ghana Cards or Tax Identification Numbers (TIN) beyond January 31, 2024.
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), gave Electronic Money Issuers (EMIS) in Ghana up to January 31, 2024, to collaborate with agents and complete the linking process. Consequently, any agent accounts lacking linkage to Ghana Cards will be subject to blocking from February 1, 2024.
The Chamber emphasizes that information regarding this exercise has been communicated directly to affected agents through various channels over the previous period.
Telecoms Chamber therefore served a reminder urging agents without linked accounts to do the needful or risk having their accounts automatically blocked.
Meanwhile, the Chamber expressed that in the event of an account suspension on February 1, 2024, affected agents can visit any operator outlets with their Ghana Card or TIN to complete the required processes.
