A Deputy Minister for Education, Mrs. Gifty Twum-Ampofo says training young people is paramount to academic excellence thus teaching should be innovative to get the attention of students.
She opined that communication through digitalization will make learning easier for students.
Speaking at the 75th anniversary of Komenda College of Education, she stated that digitalization is a unit that has come to stay with us as such there should be some dynamism in teaching.
“To ensure that it becomes easy to nurture younger children in an era where teaching must be very innovative; Innovative in such a way that you could always get the attention of your people, to get the attention of your students,” she said.
Touching on the theme for the celebration: promoting sustainable national development: the contribution of Komenda College of Education in 75 years, she stressed that teachers must be good role models for upcoming children through mentorship and effective nurturing.
She explained that “Children of today fear nothing and many of them wouldn’t say anything. But when you instruct them, they laugh at you, because you say one thing and do the other. For they need you to walk the talk.”
Mrs. Gifty Twum-Ampofo indicated that government is doing its part by ensuring Colleges of Education is no more awarded diplomas, but rather a degree.
To this end, she said it is expected that the output of the teacher should be higher and also perform well when they get out there.
On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive of Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem, Mr. Solomon Ebo Appiah maintained that education plays a significant role in the social and economic development of every nation.
He, therefore, urged Ghanaians to hold education in high esteem since it is paramount to the prospect of the Ghanaian economy.
He also said that it is his hope that the College Board of governments, management, and traditional authorities will continue to equip students with the ability to become active and valuable members of society as the nation needs resilient and determined people with a high sense of social responsibility towards national development.
