The Two-week old strike by the pre-tetiary unions have been called of following the interim injunction obtained by the National Labour Commission (NLC).
Addressing the media in Accra on Tuesday April 2, 2024, President of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers, Ghana, King Ali Awudu asked all members and teachers of pre-tertiary education in the country to resume work immediately.
He indicated saying ‘As law abiding citizens and having respect for the court, we hearby declare the strike that was called on 20th March, 2024 off. We ask all our members and Teachers of pre-tertiary education in this country to resume work with immediate effect.’
The unions are however asking the employer led by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations to commence negotiations ‘this afternoon, today April 2, 2024’ to hasten the resolution of their grievances and prevent future disruptions.
On Thursday, March 28, the NLC obtained the interim injunction to end the strike by the 3 teacher unions.
The unions are the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), the Coalition of Concerned Teachers, Ghana (CCT) and the National Association of Graduate Teachers (GNAT).
Following the declaration of the strike action on March 20, the unions have been engaged in discussions with government to address their service-related grievances and facilitate their return to teacher duties since the strike declaration on March 20.
