Nutrifoods Ghana Limited has officially resumed production and distribution of its Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix after receiving clearance from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
The FDA gave its approval on September 12, 2025, following a rigorous evaluation of Nutrifoods’ facilities and processes, reaffirming that the brand meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
Consumer safety comes first
In August, Nutrifoods voluntarily recalled select batches of Tasty Tom after some products fell short of its internal quality standards. The company stressed that the move was purely precautionary and reflected its commitment to consumer health and trust.

Since then, Nutrifoods has worked hand-in-hand with the FDA in a comprehensive review of factory operations. This process included:
- Strengthening quality assurance systems
- Enhancing process controls
- Extending incubation protocols to ensure absolute product safety
“These reviews reaffirmed that our production systems and products are fully compliant with regulatory requirements and international best practices,” the company said in a statement.
Reassurance for loyal consumers
Nutrifoods also issued an apology to its loyal customers for any inconvenience during the recall period and expressed gratitude for the trust and patience shown.
“Our consumers are at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to ensuring that Tasty Tom remains a safe, trusted, and essential part of every Ghanaian kitchen,” the statement added.
A trusted household brand
For over a decade, Tasty Tom has been one of Ghana’s most widely used cooking products, known for its consistency and quality. With production now fully restored, the tomato mix is once again available on the market.
Nutrifoods Ghana, a joint venture between Olam International and Sanyo Foods, produces a wide range of culinary products and biscuits from its Tema facilities. Beyond Tasty Tom, its portfolio includes Jollof Mix, Pepper & Onion Mix, Perk biscuits, Nutrisnax, and Royal King Cracker.
The company is also recognised as the first biscuit manufacturer in West Africa to receive Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification through the FSSC 22000 standard.

Consumers can once again purchase Tasty Tom with confidence, knowing that the product has undergone intensive safety checks and meets all international and local standards.
