SYNLAB Ghana, a globally renowned laboratory centre, has officially opened its new branch in the Central Region near the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
SYNLAB, which operates in 33 countries across four continents, is known for providing high-quality medical testing services to its clients around the world.
As part of the opening activities, community leaders, healthcare professionals, local residents, and officers from SYNLAB Ghana’s Headquarters were invited to tour the facility and experience the free medical services the branch will provide.
In an interview with ATL FM News, a representative from SYNLAB’s marketing team, Madam Abigail Yeboah Wiredu emphasized that SYNLAB Cape Coast is fully committed to ensuring residents have access to the highest quality medical services, enhancing healthcare in the region.
She indicated that apart from laboratory tests, the facility offers radiology services, clinical services and consultation services running about 6,500 tests with a focus on being innovative with the tests.
“Some of these tests are run in various branches, others are run in the central lab in Accra and then others are sent to our partner facilities across the world… What SYNLAB stands for is our quality…In fact, we’re the first lab in West Africa to be accredited with the ISO 15189 in 2018 and that is what sets us apart from the other people,” she continued.
A retired professor of the university of Cape Coast, Prof. Edward Adzesiwor Obodai stressed the importance of laboratory services to the health of the public, indicating it the “first of its kind which was the main envy of the UK alone.
Now we have it right here in the Central Region when people are sick, they run away from Ghana to the UK and, the US. Now, We, have it right here in Ghana, specifically in Cape Coast,” he added.
Dr. William Ghartey, a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, admonished the health workers at SYNLAB Cape Coast to exhibit professional standards in the line of work that has been entrusted to their care.
He especially urged them to prioritize the healthcare needs of patients adding that time management and consistency in quality service are key to the success of the SYNLAB.
