The Livingstone Foundation has organized a free health screening exercise at La in the La Dade Kotopon Municipality of the Greater Accra Region as part of the celebration of this year’s World Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.
Dr. Louisa Satekla, head of the Livingstone Foundation medical team, counseled Ghanaian women to embrace healthy lifestyle habits and undergo routine health screenings to lower their chance of developing diseases in an interview with Citinewsroom.
According to her, the exercise, which was done in collaboration with the La Polyclinic, is a component of the organization’s humanitarian programs to support women and other disadvantaged groups in various areas across the nation.
Over 300 women from Labadi and other adjacent towns attended the film and sensitization campaign.
Dr. Satekla claims that cervical cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers in the world and one of the main causes of death among women.
It is the fourth most prevalent cancer in women, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), with an expected 604,000 new cases and 342,000 fatalities in 2020.
