The acting Director-General of the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwesi Ofori has cautioned fraudsters to desist from approaching potential applicants in the recruitment process advertised by the Ghana Police Service with the view of helping them gain placements.
He warns that any fraudster who wants to take advantage of the publication of the Ghana Police Service 2021 recruitment process to swindle people will be dealt with ruthlessly according to the law.
“Nobody has been tasked to go from one community to the other to sell any form or to collect any money on behalf of the Police administration. All laid down procedures and regulations have been properly indicated in our advertisements where people are to go to the Commercial Bank. No code has been given to any private person to use and as such those who come to communities, those who go out there to transact their nefarious business as if they have been tasked should immediately be arrested and sent to the nearby Police station for investigations.”

Speaking to the media on the 2021 recruitment exercise, he advised persons who will be seeking to join the service to be vigilant and report any illegal activities as well as those using social media platforms to sway attention so they can defraud people.
“Any member of the public who parts monies to those fraudsters, do so at his or her own risk. Some of these fraudsters are even trying to use names, offices to go out there to defraud people mentioning specific police officers. All those things do not hold water and therefore we are urging the public to challenge those people or make a report to the police.”
The Ghana Police Service is expected to recruit some 5,000 persons after it got the green light from the government to do so.
