The Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan has called on various stakeholders in education to collaborate to help improve the declining rate of academic performance of schools in the region.
According to her, it is an indictment on the region to have some of the best-endowed schools in the country and yet its sons and daughters cannot access them due to poor performance.
Speaking at the launch of the adoption of schools project by the College of Education Studies, University of Cape Coast, Mrs Assan said education has the power to transform the socio-economic fortunes of the region and the nation as a whole.
She, therefore, appealed to the universities, teachers and students to contribute their quota to help the region recapture its position as the citadel of education in Ghana.

“This is our collective responsibility, we cannot compromise on this one, so this is a task to all of us to make sure it happens so that our children are able to get today’s beautiful schools we are mentioning. It is important we come together to make this a reality.” She stressed.
She explained that low performance of schools, if not checked, could adversely affect the learners’ morale, psychological power and confidence in the school and it’s may eventually lead to low enrollment.
