The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has embarked on a five-day initiative, known as the customer clinic, aimed at enhancing interactions with contributors, addressing grievances, and enrolling new members in Cape Coast.
This mobile clinic will be stationed in different locations throughout the municipality, with the primary goal of updating SSNIT’s records, collecting vital feedback for policy development, and executing other key activities.
In an interview with ATLFMNEWS, Mr. Samuel Quartson, the deputy manager in charge of benefits at SSNIT, emphasized that this annual program is designed to bring Social Security closer to the people, specifically those in the informal sector.
It enables direct interaction with workers at their doorsteps, bridging the gap between the community and SSNIT. The initiative allows individuals to make inquiries about pension plans, receive assistance in printing statements, and even merge their SSNIT and Ghana card numbers.
Furthermore, Mr. Quartson highlighted the core mandate of SSNIT, emphasizing its responsibility for collecting contributions from registered workers and ensuring their pension days are well spent.
He emphasized that SSNIT’s services are not exclusively for pensioners or government workers, but are also open to entrepreneurs, self-employed individuals, and those who have lost their jobs due to unforeseen circumstances.
He reiterated SSNIT’s commitment to reaching out to all workers, asserting that every individual who works should be a contributor to the scheme, irrespective of their employment status or sector.
The SSNIT customer clinic not only aims to enhance engagement with existing contributors but also seeks to expand awareness and inclusivity for all individuals, ensuring that every worker benefits from and contributes to the country’s Social Security system.
The Five-Day Customer Clinic Initiative in Cape Coast began on Monday, November 20, 2023, and will end on Friday, November 24, 2023.
