The leadership of the Senior Staff Association-Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) says government has until July 13, 2022, to respond to their demand for the 20% Cost-of-Living Allowances (CoLA).
The leadership of the Association in a statement declared their intention to embark on Industrial Strike Action should government fail to provide the 20% CoLA which is to help cushion the living standards of association members whom they explained are wallowing in abject poverty.
The statement indicated that the decision was made at its 16th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on June 25, 2022, where it was concluded among other things, that the deteriorating cost of living of its members as a result of rising fuel prices, goods and services, and the imposition of new taxes, as well as the high inflation rate, is making members’ living conditions unbearable.
The statement signed by the association’s National President, Isaac Donkoh and Secretary, Hector Owoahene-Acheampong also revealed government failure to address other pressing concerns of the association which they said can no more be tolerated.
In this regard government has within the stipulated time or risk having the leadership of the association have their way.
