The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has expressed his unwavering commitment to peace, promising free, fair and credible elections.
He gave this assurance when the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) paid a courtesy call on him in Parliament on Friday November 8, 2024.
The delegation comprised of selected students from private schools across Ghana accompanied by staff from GNACOPS.
The visit was aimed at enhancing GNACOPS advocacy on peace before during and after the 2024 elections.
Addressing the Speaker, the students urged the speaker to leverage his influential position to foster peace in the led up to the December 7 elections emphasizing the crucial role peace plays in their future.
They therefore expressed hope that the Speaker would continue to champion stability and unity across the country.

The National Executive Director of GNACOPS, Obenfo Nana Kwasi Gyetuah who led the delegation to parliament underscored the role of children as the nation’s future.
He stressed that the children’s interest should be at the forefront in fostering a stable and peaceful society.
Obenfo Gyetuah praised the Speaker’s efforts at promoting peace and urged his leadership to support a calm electoral process.
In response, Speaker Bagbin reiterated his commitment to peace, emphasizing his lifelong dedication to promoting harmony and unity.
He praised the students for their enthusiasm at promoting peace and encouraged their teachers to instill national pride and a love for peace in the next generation.
Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin also praised GNACOPS for the initiative in involving young students in peace-building efforts.
