Some of the alleged food poisoning sufferers at Marwako Fast Food Limited have threatened to sue the company to demand compensation for their medical expenses.
They say that, despite earlier guarantees, the Restaurant has failed to uphold its pledge to cover the expense of their hospitalization.
Following their discharge from the hospital, they told JoyNews that the situation had robbed them of their finances and placed them in difficult situations.
One of the victims revealed, “I’ve spoken to one lawyer that I want us to take the case on because he went to buy food; what he bought was ¢105 and he has gone to the hospital to spend almost ¢3,000.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Lamptey, the Public Relations Officer of Marwako Fast Food Limited, has admitted that some of the complaints are legitimate.
He has begged with people who are afflicted to get assistance.
“Undoubtedly, this is a situation where we might not be able to deal with everybody; so, if you never interacted with us, you’ve never spoken to us and you want to go to court, I am pleading with you – please get in touch with us, let us talk and let’s see how best we can resolve the issue.

“Some people might want to explore it to whatever that is happening by trying to call us and give us information about their problems; we’ll identified some of them but what I am saying is that before God and man, let us be truthful to ourselves and try to do the right thing,” he argued.
FDA shuts Marwako branches
Following repeated accusations of food poisoning on social media, the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) shut down the East Legon branch of Marwako restaurant.
The FDA announced in a tweet on Thursday, May 12 that the decision to close the eatery was made to allow the Authority to conduct investigations into consumer concerns.
“The FDA has taken notice of complaints from the public about the suspected food poisoning at the East Legon Branch of Marwarko Restaurant.
“We have closed down the restaurant and together with other relevant agencies, started investigations,” the tweet said.
After multiple people complained of food poisoning after dining at Marwako, a fast food restaurant in Accra, it trended on Twitter.
The Twitter outburst began after a user, Edward Elohim, revealed that the fast-food chain had given him and many others contaminated food.
Several other people echoed his claim, accusing the fast food restaurant of placing them in a similar situation since the weekend.
Many have already been admitted to hospitals, with many of the purported victims pointing to the eatery’s East Legon location as the source of their discomfort.
