Snapchat has announced a new feature called “Home Safe,” allowing users to inform friends and family when they’ve arrived home safely after an outing.
To use this feature, set your home location by tapping your Bitmoji on Snap Map and selecting “My Home.” When you’re out and want to notify a friend upon your return, open the conversation, tap the Map icon, then the Home Safe button.
Your friend will automatically receive an alert in your chat once you arrive home.
Snapchat specifies that alerts can only be sent to friends with whom you already share your location. Additionally, location sharing on Snap Map is off by default, so no one can view your location or receive a Home Safe alert unless you choose to share it.

“Whether you’re returning from a first date, a crowded concert, or a weekend getaway, Home Safe can provide peace of mind to a close friend or family member,” Snapchat stated in a blog post.
This feature launch follows Snapchat’s announcement two months ago that Snap Map now has over 400 million monthly active users.
Originally launched in 2017, Snap Map allowed users to see friends’ locations and browse public snaps globally. Over time, it has evolved to help users discover local hotspots and activities.
