The Osabarimba Royal Awards organized annually to recognize businesses and individuals supporting the growth of Cape Coast has awarded Sir Sam Esson Jonah for his leadership in pushing the flag of Cape Coast as Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.
This year’s award ceremony which was the third edition was held at the Emintsemadze palace on the theme, “Our People, Our Resources, Our Business: Think Oguaa.”
The event organized by the Oguaa Traditional Council was initiated by the paramount chief of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II in partnership with Ridge Royal Hotel.
Under the education category, the University Junior High School was honoured as the “Most Outstanding Private School” for its consistent improvement for the past 20 years.
Speaking to ATL FM NEWS on the side lines after receiving the award, a chief teacher and coordinator in the school, Mr. Sylvester Owusu Effa-Adu ascribed the school’s success to the efforts put in by the management, staff and students.
He further added that the school’s motto: “Excellence and Service” has been their guiding principle.
“It’s interesting to note that whatever we are doing as a school, to live to our motor excellence and service, people are recognizing so for Ogaamanhene Nana Kwesi Atta II to give the school, University senior high school this award I think it’s very awesome. We are happy to receive that” he emphasized.
Explaining the essence of the award ceremony, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II said it is expedient for traditional council to recognize the hard of work of individuals in the region to motivate them to do more.
He added that, “so long as individuals or organisations work hard in their own way to benefit the metropolis, the Traditional council will also appreciate their works from time to time.”
In all a total of sixty awards were given out in the category of Education, health, tourism, Business, Media among others.
