A galaxy of stars and the general people have gathered in Accra’s Akwaaba Village to rally behind Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum as she attempts to break the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon, Sing-a-thon.
The Ghanaian broadcast journalist began her Sing-a-thon journey at midnight on Sunday, December 24, with the goal of singing constantly till she beats the current record-holder, Indian Sunil Waghmare, who sang for an astounding 105 hours in 2012.
Sunil Waghmare holds the record at 102 hours.

Becca, Eno Barony, Kwabena Kwabena, Kobi Rana, Sista Afia, Cina Soul, Clemento Suarez, DKB, Cwesi Oteng, GMB queen Teiya, Kojo Pjay, Nana Ama McBrown, Anita Akuffo, OB Amponsah, Lawyer Nti, Banzy Banero, and others have all been spotted at the venue.
In addition to these superstars, a great number of Ghanaians have gathered to show their support.
The Sing-a-thon began with the legendary Osibisa song ‘Woyaya,’ and was followed by a medley of seasonal Ghanaian gospel favorites from musicians such as Tagoe Sisters, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Yaw Sarpong, and Esther Smith. Asantewaa smoothly shifted to secular tracks, mesmerizing the crowd with a broad musical trip that included Shatta Wale, Ebony Reigns, Wendy Shay, Kuami Eugene, KiDi, Adina, Samini, Sarkodie, and Black Sherif.
Aside from the music, the location has additional attractions such as food and clothing displays, adding layers of celebration to the over 33 hours of pure Ghanaian musical festivities.

Meanwhile, the virtual realm is resonating with unflinching support from social media aficionados and noteworthy personalities, including special recognition from none other than Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He, for one, believes that the broadcast journalist will make history for the country.
A Facebook post by Vice President Bawumia expressed respect for the mother of three who has completed almost 33 hours of her nearly five-day singing marathon journey, pushing her to persevere despite the challenges.
