The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has blamed the “significant disturbance” in its power systems for the widespread power outage that occurred throughout the nation on Monday night.
It claimed that its electricity producing units in Aboadze and Bui tripped, resulting in the tragedy.
It claims, however, that the condition has been resolved as of Tuesday, November 9, 2021, though it had a similar difficulty minutes after restoring electricity at 4.30 a.m.
The outage was recorded in several regions of the nation, including Takokradi, Dansoman, Nima, Teshie, Tarkwa, and locations in the Bono Region.
However, according to GRIDCo, “all generating units at Aboadze Enclave and Bui tripped, resulting in a power outage in sections of Accra, the Western, Middle, and Northern parts of the country.”
“At 4.50GMT on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in the process of restoring the remaining BSPs, a second disturbance occurred, resulting in the loss of generating units at Aboadze Enclave and Bui. This led to another interruption of electricity supply to several areas of Accra, the Western, Middle, and Northern parts of the country.”
According to GRIDCo, electricity has been restored to all Bulk Supply Points and the company will “continue to provide a stable power system for dependable and efficient power supply for national and economic growth.”
